Search Engines - How To Impress The Googlebot

If the Google robots (or "googlebots" as they are more commonly known) could speak, that would be very handy.

Why?

Because, just as with developing products, it's far easier – not to mention far more sensible and efficient – to give people what they want rather than what you think they want.

So, if the googlebot could be taken to a bar and plied with a few beers, this is probably what you'd glean.

Large websites make far more of an impact with Google than little bitty mini sites.

Websites rich in relevant content, based round a discernable theme, cut more ice with Google. Always remember relevancy is the ethos that rocketed Google from "New kid on the block" to "Top dog" with 47% of the searches in seven years. Content should also be as original as possible and certainly not spewed out by some article writing software.

Plenty of links from other websites in the same general market as yours really impresses the googlebot – particularly links to your website from sites with a high page rank.

THen, having found out exactly what the googlebot wanted, you could supply it and thus enhance your showing in the search engine results page (SERP).
